Rotating Tool Holder Repair
Repaired rotating tool holders

Carbide Tool Services, Inc. (CTS) offers complete repair services on all major brands of rotating tool holders. These tool holders include, but are not limited to, tap adapters, tap chucks, tap holders, live centers and dead centers. Repair on a rotating tool holder generally costs less than 50% of the new replacement holder depending on the damage and the cost of parts. All rotating tool holders are repaired using OEM parts and are guaranteed to perform like new. The service not only reduces tool holder costs, it also simplifies the procurement process by consolidating multiple purchase orders into one. When put together with an indexable tool repair program, the cost savings can be tremendous.

Program in Action

A diesel engine manufacturer needed to reduce tap holder tooling costs. CTS developed a program that allows them to repair/recondition their tap holders as a part of routine maintenance. They are able to repair damaged tap holders, rather than replacing them, and prevent future problems by reconditioning worn holders. The customer has the tap holders serviced twice a year and realizes savings of over $60,000 annually.

Live and dead centers can be repaired and reground for a fraction of new replacement costs. CTS now offers complete repair services on all major brands of live and dead centers. From complete repair of bearings and seals to regrinding/retipping damaged carbide tips, repairing centers is a practical way to reduce tooling costs.

Program in Action

An automotive component manufacturer is using a special live center with an end radius. The radius is critical, and the application often wears out the radius and bearings. CTS set up a repair program that allows the customer to salvage the centers instead of throwing them out. By reconditioning the damaged radius and replacing the internal bearings, CTS saves the customer over $5,000 annually on this item alone.
