Endmills and Drills Resharpened
Program in Action
An aircraft component manufacturer was looking for a way to get their damaged indexable tools and dull/damaged high-performance drills reconditioned at one source in order to simplify the purchasing process. CTS earned the business because of our ability to repair and regrind tooling to original OEM specifications. CTS developed a program that allows the customer to consolidate drill resharpening and indexable tool repair. The prices are competitive and the quality is second to none. The program saves the customer over $100,000 in tooling costs annually, and creates additional procurement savings by using a single source.
Workrest Blades Retipped and Reground
CTS now offers complete repair, retipping and regrinding of workrest blades from all manufacturers. All workrest blades are rebuilt to original OEM specifications for less than 50% of new costs. Repairing these workrest blades to perform like new can provide enormous cost savings.

A large chain manufacturer damages a tremendous amount of carbide tipped workrest blades. They were having quality problems with their previous repair source and needed a supplier who would provide consistent quality at a competitive price. CTS developed a retip/regrind program for the workrest blades that provides consistent quality at a price lower than the previous supplier. The customer now receives better quality and saves over $10,000 annually on workrest blades.
Tapers Repaired and Reground
For years, Carbide Tool Services, Inc. (CTS) has been reworking damaged tapered shanks on indexable tool holders that are in need of pocket repair. Re-qualifying the taper is a necessary step in recalibrating the cutting end of the tool. This service has recently been expanded to repairing the shanks on standard endmill holders, facemill arbors, and many other types of tapered shank tooling. Customers realize that the overall quality of the machine spindle is only as good as the tool being put in it.
By repairing and re-qualifying tapered shanks, our customers recognize cost savings in two ways. First, tooling costs are cut by over 50% when damaged tools are repaired instead of replaced. Second, customers could potentially suffer major damage to the machine spindle and work piece if a tool fails due to wear on the tapered shank. This savings alone is worth the maintenance. To see how this service could help your tooling, contact CTS today.

A manufacturer of large earth moving equipment was having problems with worn out 50 taper shanks on their endmill holders. CTS implemented a regrinding program that reconditions the damaged and worn tapers. CTS regrinds the taper, re-establishing proper concentricity with the I.D. of the holder. Any damaged or broken screws are removed and the threads are repaired. Instead of replacing these holders, the customer can now have them reworked to new condition. The repair program saves the customer over $25,000 annually versus replacing the holders.
